University launches tech start-up degree

University College London (UCL) has launched

a new MSc degree that aims to attract talented students into technology sector entrepreneurship.

UCL says that the Technical Ventures and Foundations of Entrepreneurship (TVFE) degree will equip students with the skills and knowledge to reduce the risks posed by inexperience and unrealistic business plans that come with new starting a new venture.

Students will have access to engineering, scientific and computing facilities and laboratories to help them develop and test the viability of their business ideas. Those who begin the course without a specific proposition will be given assistance to find a suitable venture.

They will also have access to potential investors, business partners, venture capitalists and clients to help create their business plans, which will make up their final dissertation.
