No, its not a joke. English Heritage is advertising for a court jester the post for the first time since the official position was abolished following the execution of the execution of Charles I in 1649.

Auditions – rather than interviews - for the post will be held Auditions will be held on August 7 at the Festival of History in Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire. Suitable candidates "must be mirthful and prepared to work summer weekends in 2005. Must have own outfit (with bells). Bladder on stick provided if required," according to the advert.
