Adam Leyland in Real Business Magazine hits the nail on the head in a editorial examining Tesco's controversial new sick leave initiative. For a company that prides itself of being a good employer, its apparent lack of trust in its people appears out of synch with the culture of the business.

Does the supermarket really want its checkout ladies to cough and sniffle over the vegetables in return for extra days of holiday? It would spread germs among other staff too. The situation might even get hostile, since it endangers their wages.
