The goal of a traditional interview is to learn the employment history, skill level, and future goals of prospective employees. But the questions asked in traditional interviews leave room for vague answers and the exaggeration of abilities, and don't always identify the cream of the crop.

According to research done by Behaviour Description Technologies, traditional interviews capture only 19 per cent of the candidate's performance value. Behavioural Interviewing, on the other hand, captures 53 per cent of this performance value.

So what is Behavioural Interviewing? It's a set of techniques that forces job candidates to describe how they responded to past job situations, as well as hypothetical ones. Their answers to interview questions indicate how they will handle the various tasks they would be required to do in the future.

In "How to Choose the Right Person for the Right Job Every Time", Lori Davila and Louise Kursmark explain the benefits of using Behavioural Interviewing techniques and trains readers in every step of the process.
